Most of the recordings are aurally rendered
with virtual instruments and sample libraries because the costs associated with hiring
musicians, studio or hall rental, recording engineers, as well as paying fees to reproduce any
recorded session or performance are very expensive.
I feel the use of virtual instruments is an exciting innovation for modern music-making. It
allows the composer to pursue another art—virtual orchestration. I enjoy trying to be the
composer, orchestrator, performer, conductor, mixing engineer, etc.
The two sample libraries I used are Garritan's Personal Orchestra and East West Quantum Leap's
Symphonic Choirs.
