Missed Flight
is a programmatic fantasy that explores feelings a traveler might experience at an
airport upon realization that they will not be flying that day. After initial
dejection and uncertainty the traveler walks along the concourse where the mind is
stimulated by a series of diversions and curiosities. Some of the amusements are
dazzling; others are beguiling. Some distractions become catalysts for flights of
the imagination.
The trip has now become not a physical relocation but a mental relocation. The
musical journey ends with the traveler taking an alternate form of transport and an
ephemeral remembrance of "wind" as not only an agent of levitation but as metaphor
for propelling the imagination.
